Nicole Starosielski
Associate Professor at New York University

Nicole Starosielski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. Her research is focused on the history of the cable industry and the social aspects of submarine cable construction and maintenance. She is the author of The Undersea Network (2015) and co-editor of Signal Traffic: Critical Studies of Media Infrastructure (2015). She is the co-convener of the SubOptic Association’s Global Citizen Working Group and a co-PI on the Internet Society Foundation funded “Sustainability and the Subsea Telecommunication Cable Network” project.
